Common questions
Things people often ask us
How do I know which service my watch needs?
For most watches in daily use that haven't had attention in a while, a Comprehensive Service is usually a sensible starting point. Standard Maintenance works well for quartz or automatic watches that are otherwise running smoothly. If your watch has special age, rarity, or personal significance, we'd suggest beginning with a short conversation about Bespoke Restoration.
Do you service all watch brands?
We work across a broad range of Swiss, Japanese, and German movements — from familiar everyday names to more specialised vintage calibres. If you have a particularly unusual piece, feel free to describe it when you get in touch and we'll let you know honestly whether it falls within our scope.
What happens to my watch while it's with you?
Your watch is logged into our workshop register upon arrival and kept in a controlled, secure space throughout. For Bespoke Restoration work, we share progress photographs at key milestones. You're welcome to contact us at any point to ask how things are progressing.
How often should a mechanical watch be serviced?
Most watchmakers suggest a full service every five to seven years for a mechanical watch, though this varies depending on the movement design, how often it's worn, and environmental conditions. Watches that are worn daily in humid climates — like Kuala Lumpur — may benefit from slightly more frequent attention.
Can I send my watch by post or courier?
We do accept carefully packaged watches sent by tracked courier, though we generally recommend dropping off in person for higher-value pieces. If you're considering sending a watch, please contact us first so we can walk you through the safest packaging approach and confirm receipt.
What if the cost changes during the repair?
If we discover during the process that additional work is needed — for example, a worn part that wasn't visible at intake — we'll contact you before proceeding. We never move forward with work beyond the agreed scope without your knowledge and agreement.
